Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Erik Siljander to the position of Street Maintenance Operator effective
October 14, 2024.
Background/Discussion
We currently have two openings in our street maintenance division. We went to market and received 31
applications. Following interviews and a background check, we recommend Erik Siljander for one vacant
position.
Mr. Siljander is currently working at Mr. Free HDTV installing antennas and providing repair service. He was a
seasonal employee for us last winter and also has experience as a carpenter's assistant for the DNR.
Mr. Siljander will start at step A of the IUOE Local 49 pay range for this position. All pay and benefits will be
consistent with union contract and city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
