Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Chad Orgon to the position of Community Service Officer 2/Evidence
Technician effective October 14, 2024.
Background/Discussion
Our current CSO2/Evidence Technician is retiring in December. Using budgeted, unused funds from
department vacancies, the City Council has consented to fill this position in advance to allow for important
on-the-job training to ensure a seamless transition.
We went to market and received 54 applications for this position. Following interviews, a background check,
and a physical exam, we recommend Chad Orgon for this position.
Mr. Orgon worked for the Brooklyn Park Police Department for several years, serving as a Community
Service Officer, Investigative Assistant, and Property Room Technician. He has also worked as a Business
Agent for Teamsters Local 320 and, most recently, was the Animal Control Officer for the City of St. Cloud.
Due to his many years of experience, Mr. Orgon will start at step C of pay grade 5N. All pay and benefits will
be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
