Utilizing Items for Liquor Marketing Promotions

Action Requested
Adopt, by motion, Resolution 24-61 acknowledging contributions to the liquor operations and utilizing the
items for liquor marketing promotions.
Background/Discussion
The liquor stores obtain promotional products through routine purchases from vendors.
In the past, the liquor stores partnered with the Elk River Fire Department to conduct a fundraiser to
liquidate these items to assist with capital purchases. Due to new interpretations of state statute, we are no
longer holding the fundraiser.
The city attorney also recommends the Council accept the promotional items as donations, which will be
utilized as marketing promotions for liquor operations.

Resolution 24-____
A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging
Contributions
WHEREAS,the City of Elk River was given the items listed in Exhibit A from a variety of
vendors, and
WHEREAS,these items were historically used as silent auction items to benefit the fire
department, and
WHEREAS,the items are unable to be returned to the appropriate vendors based on the
manner they were anonymously delivered over multiple years, and
WHEREAS, using give-a-way promotions helps increase traffic and increase sales at the
municipal liquor store, which serves a public purpose in promoting a municipal enterprise,
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the council authorizes staff to use these
items as promotional give-a-ways to increase sales at the municipal liquor stores.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Councilmember
___________ and duly seconded by Councilmember ______________, and upon vote
being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
