6.1b EMRUSR 12-10-2024��i Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Sara Youngs —Administrations Director MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: December 10, 2024 6.1b SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • Office walk-in traffic for November consisted of 125 customers, averaging 31 customers per week over the four -week period. • ERMU disconnections for November: The Cold Weather Rule is in effect, meaning customers cannot be disconnected until 30 days after they receive their disconnection notice. o Cycle 1— 6 disconnections o Cycle 2 — 8 disconnections o Cycle 4 — 1 disconnection • During the month of November 2024, the customer service team entered 49 payment arrangements with customers. During November 2023 there were 65 payment arrangements. • A significant portion of staff time is dedicated to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure project, including daily customer follow-ups and coordination with both internal and external team members. • Completed the yearly review of the Schedule of Rates & Fees for presentation and approval. • Staff is performing an internal audit of the Otsego streetlights. • The administrations director has started the year-end training with our software provider National Information Solutions Cooperative. • IT staff continues to work with the water department switching the water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system from the radio communication to fiber optic communication utilizing our fiber ring. The controls for wells three, eight, and nine are now switched over to fiber communications. • AT&T has hired a contractor to install a FirstNet cell booster at the Field Services Building, using a rooftop penetration on the south side of the roof. • Currently there are eight active residential solar photovoltaic projects planned or under construction in the ERMU service territory. Page 1 of 2 140 In the last 30 days, combined the level two chargers located downtown and in the parking lot in front of ERMU had 35 sessions and provided customers with 733 kWh of green energy.
