ELK RIVER PARK BOARD
HELD IN THE VILLAGE OFFICE BUILDING
MAY 17th 1972
BOARD :r.1EMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Les Derr, Bob otto, Gene Schuldt and Duane Becklin.
GUESTS PRESENT: Lynn Moore-Javsrees, Frank Madsen-Elk River Town Board, Dave Halgren-
Youth Hockey Association, Bob Berning-Otsego Town Board and John Dietz-Summer Recreation.
Lynn Moore inquired about regulation concerning selling beer in Orono Park. Bob Otto
stated that the Village Council will not grant a permit for any beer sales, primarily
because of direct access to the highway.
Dietz reported sufficient funding for program and that other municipalities would not
be asked for funds. All money would probably be handled through the Elk River Village
governments such as last year. Gary Dreissig has coaching certificate required by
school administration. There was a general discussion on recreation programs in other
communities and corrdinated recreation program in Elk River.
Dave Halgren reported that the ice arena is vacant for the summer and will be open for
rental.
Gene Schuldt will contact Jaycees about getting a youth baseball program started and
John Dietz will contact Ouarterback Club for organizing youthhfootball.
Elk River Village, Elk River Township and Otsego Township will consider joining to-
gether a Recreation Board.
Next meeting scheduled for AUGUST 2, 1972 at 7:30 P.M. in the Elk River Village Office
Building.
