It is recommended that the liaison appointments have a term expiration of December 31, 2026, and the voting rights appointments as outlined below. Background/Discussion Mayor Dietz will recommend appointments for the various advisory boards. Liaison Appointments ▪ Heritage Preservation Commission ▪ Parks and Recreation Commission ▪ Planning Commission Voting Appointments (Council Representatives) ▪ Economic Development Authority (term expiration of December 31, 2028) ▪ Economic Development Authority (term expiration of December 31, 2028) ▪ Housing and Redevelopment Authority (term expiration of December 31, 2026) ▪ Multipurpose Facility Commission (term expiration of February 28, 2025) ▪ Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission (term expiration of February 28, 2026). This can be a council representative or a member of the public because the city ordinance states that up to two council members can serve on the commission. ▪ Region 7W Transportation Policy Board Additional Information ▪ EDA Chair Dan Tviete will complete his term on the commission this year. There will be an additional vacancy on this board (term expiration of December 31, 2029). Page 201 of 211 ▪ Fire Relief appointments are typically made at the first meeting in January and, historically, the mayor has served this role. ▪ The mayor currently serves on the Elk River Municipal Utilities with a term ending February 28, 2025. If a reappointment is made tonight, it is recommended to run the term to when the council election term is up.
