Mayor Dietz will read and present a plaque to Councilmember Matt Westgaard recognizing his service to the
city.
Background/Discussion
The City Council is invited to speak regarding Matt's service to the community.
Matt began his first term for Ward 3 in January 2009. After redistricting, he was re-elected to Ward 2 for a
term beginning January 2013. He has also served as a commissioner and council liaison with the Economic
Development Authority, Energy City Commission, Heritage Preservation Commission, Ice Arena
Commission, Utilities Commission, Planning Commission, Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission, and the
Ice Arena Commission.
Matt's experience and expertise have been invaluable in constructing and improving city facilities and amenities
throughout his service. He was an active member of the Public Works Facility planning team, the Active Elk
River Parks/Facilities Project, and the acquisition of Bailey Point Nature Preserve and W.H. Houlton
Conservation Area.
Cupcakes will be provided during the work session portion of the meeting.
