Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Mitch Litfin to the position of Public Works Supervisor effective January 27,
2025.
Background/Discussion
With the resignation of the parks/streets superintendent, the public works division organizational structure
was slightly redesigned. The position of public works supervisor was created and will supervise the fleet
maintenance division and the maintenance facility office staff.
We went to market to fill this position and received 36 applications. Following interviews, background,
reference checks, and pre-employment testing, we recommend Mitch Litfin for the position. Mr. Litfin has
been working for St. Cloud Metro Bus for eight-plus years. He started as a shelter cleaner and in 2019 started
in the position of Maintenance Supervisor. Other work experience includes working as a correctional officer
at both St. Cloud and Oak Park Heights and as a journeyman carman for BNSF Railway. Mr. Litfin has an
Associate of Applied Science degree and currently holds a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
Mr. Litfin will start at step A for this position which is in pay grade 6E of the city's pay plan. All pay and
benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
