Adopt, by motion, Resolution 24-01 declaring the votes cast for Elk River municipal races.
Background/Discussion
Per state law, the Canvassing Board is required to declare official results for the general election.
Municipal races on the ballot included:
▪ Councilmember Ward 2
▪ Councilmember Ward 3
Statewide voter turnout is around 75%. In 2016, turnout was 74.72% and in 2020, it was 79.96%.
In 2023, a law change extended the deadline for receiving absentee ballots by five hours from 3:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. According to the Office of the Secretary of State, several counties reported a high volume of
absentee ballots arriving on Election Day.

A Resolution of the Canvassing Board of the City of Elk River to Certify
Results of the November 5, 2024, General Election
WHEREAS,the City of Elk River held an election for Councilmember offices on
Tuesday, November 5, 2024, during the General Election; and
WHEREAS,the votes tabulated at said election were:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Canvassing Board of the City of Elk
River, Minnesota, as follows:
▪J. Brian Calva is the official election result winner for the Office of Councilmember
Ward 2 for the term of January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028.
▪Mike Beyer is the official election result winner for the Office of Councilmember
Ward 3 for the term of January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028.
Passed and adopted this 12th day of November 2024.
