ELK RIVER PARK BOARD M}~ETING
HELD IN THE VILLAGE OFFICE BUILDING
May 2, 1973 at 7:30 PM.
BOARD NEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Les Derr, Gene Schuldt, Duane Becklin and Bob Syring.
GUESTS PRESENT: Mrs. Shirley Matuseski, John Dietz, Stan Moreland, Dave Halgren, Gene
Scribner and Dick Heles.
COUNCIL MEETING: Bob Syring stated that the Village Council approved a resolution
creating a separate Park Board. The board can now organize a Park Committee to
incorporate surrounding co~unities into a joint recreation program.
SUM}ffiR BASEBALL: Dick Heles and Stan Moreland presented plan for baseball program.
Plan calls for Babe Ruth League this summer and eventual growth in future years
when facilities are available. Estimated cost for a 4-team league $900.00 and a
6-team league $1,200.00. Babe Ruth League would include ages 13-15 years.
SUMMER RECREATION: John Dietz outlined sports for boys and girls ages 6-14 years.
Total cost would be $2,600.00 activities would be essentially the same except for
Archery, which would be dropped.
Total estimated cost for Summer Recreation and Babe Ruth League would be $3,800.00.
Next meeting May 7, 1973 at 6:00 PM. at the Village Office Building.
