05-01-1974 PR MIN ~ ELK RIVER JOINT PARK BOARD MEETING HELD IN THE CITY OFFICE BUILDING May 1, 1974 at 7:30 P.M. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Les Derr, Shirley Matuseski, Will Daniels, Gene Schuldt, Gene Scribner. MEMBERS ABSENT: Don Strei. GUESTS: Dick Hales, Paula Anderson, Gene Scribner gave his report on what he had done. Lakeshore Association is going to run the canoeing. Ron Burley in charge. Possibility of extra Life Jackets needed. Janis Klein has offered to work with Mrs. Higdon for dancing lessons. A piano player is needed. Acrobatic, Tap, & Ballet all together. Wa-s' ma-hin Archery Club will run the archery program. Approximately $200.00 needed. Paula Anderson chairman in charge of bus tours has been contacting different places for the tours. Judy Persing is going to have the story hour. Eve Dillon will be in charge of tennis. Interested in adults as well as younger people. Adrian Barnier is willing to be in charge for registration. The old fire hall next to the Library has been suggested for a place of registration. Les Derr will contact same and on the use of this. Will Daniels will check out summer theaters. Paula Anderson called the Dicksin Bus Lines, they do a charter service. Over 66 passengers $25.00, smaller $22.00 - 66 passengers 45f/l a mile thats up to 4 hours driving, over that $3.25 an hour + 45f/l . Need 2 or 3 days notice. Suggested: do not segregate mentally retarded. Metropoliton Stadium was contacted for different routes. Chaperons will be needed. Minneapolis Public Library Planetarium was contacted, need advance reservation, Charge of 50f/l a person. Paula Anderson will write up an ad on bus tours and set up dates. Dick Hales will come up with a cost for equipment for Little League after registration. Babe Ruth League is shaping up better than last year. Al Froehlich will check with his company on the Insurance for Babe Ruth League. Next meeting will be May 23, 1974 at 7:00 P.M. Gene Scribner moved to adjourn, Wil Daniels seconded. Motion carried,
