ELK RIVER JOINT RECREATION BOARD
Nov. 19, 1974 at 7:00 PM.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Shirley Matuseski, Don Strei, Bob Westerlund,
Gene Scribner.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Jim Bredeck.
An inquiry has been made to start recreational volley ball. Agreed to run an ad for response
and let them go ahead & run it.
Work on picking up equipment .
Guthrie Theatre for Sr. Citizens, total cost for tickets & bus & expense $180.50. Total
cost to the board $15.50.
INSURANCE:
Mrs. Barrens called about an injury on her boy same as Mrs. Insmen, a dental injury.
The insurance program has been very poorly handled as far as we can tell. A suggestion was
made to get together with Al Froehlich. Don Strei has volunteered to talk to Mr. Froehlich
about this matter.
Bob Westerlund brought up the ice arena subject. The annual premium $410.00 for general liabi-
lity.
Gene Schuldt brought up the matter of the members of the Village that are on the park board
maybe three different ones should participate on the board.
Bill for Sherburne County Star News for $17.40 approved.
The subject of our own checking account came up. Gene Schuldt will check out our limitations.
Shirley Matuseski will check out the Princeton Pool schedule for open swimming.
Gene Schuldt will check on finding out details on CETA program.
Next meeting tuesday Jan 7, 1975 at 7:00 o'clock PM.

Playground Equipment: Playground equipment has not been delivered yet. Lions
Club gave a check for the full $1,17S.00. Park Board mIl only pay for freight
charges.
Boat. Launching Site: Permit was obtained from Department of National Resources.
Work completed to date includes grading of the launching ramp. The rock base
has not been laid. Excess dirt from grading to be used!or top soil at the
Elk River Library.
Resurfacing of Baseball Diamonds: To date both infields have been graded.
Agricultural lime and sod has not been applied yet.
Orono Baseball Fence: Elk River-Jaycees are doing the -work. Old fence removed
and posts installed at new locations. Additional fencing posts, and top rails
are needed. Balance may not be completed due to cold weather and difficulty
in obtaining materials.
Orono Ball Field Lights: Lyle Collins has completed all of the work including
moving outfield posts and transfering infield lights to the higher poles.
Movement of outfield poles also included restringing the wire.
Beach/Police Resesitator: Equipment has been ordered, delivered, and paid
for. Budget allOived $425.00 for equipment actualcost.was $218.00, savings
on purchase was $207.00. Resesitator is now in custody of police department
until beach opens next spring.
