04-27-1976 PR MIN ~ ELK RIVER PARK BOARD April 27, 1976 City Hall 7:00 P.H. BOARD MEMBERS PRF3ENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Bob Westerlund, Jim Bredeck. BOARD MEHBERS ABSENT: Stan Horeland, Ken Nelson. GUESTS: Joe Jackson, Slow Petch League. CETA E}1PLOYEES: It was voted that the City Council has okayed the hiring of two employees under the CETA program. One remaining applicant, Lawrence Johnson, will be notified to report to Ken Nelson on Monday, May 3rd. a second employee will be sought. SATellites:T\vo Satellite units will be ordered for Orono Park and for Fairgrounds Ball Park. Units should be installed by Monday, May 3rd. SECURITY LIGHTS: Board discussed need for night time security lights for Orono Park. It was felt that two lights would be in the vicinity of the boat launching area and the other would be in the area of the swimming beach. Board approved installation of lights. ORONO PARK FLAGPOLE: Jim Bredeck suggested that the flagploe in Orono Park is in bad need of painting. It was noted that the pole is the property of the V.F.W. Ernest Caine is the Post Commander and Jim Bredeck will contact him. JOINT RECRF~TION BUDGET REQUEST: Board considered request from Joint Recreation Board for $3,000.00 funding allotted for 1976. Board approved granting initial $2,000.00 now, with request for additional $1,000.00 open for future use. NOTICE TO SOFTBALL LF~GUES; The Park Board drafted a statement to be mailed to all officers and managers of the softball teams regarding park regulations. Statement covered misuse of field lights and littering of field areas. Teams were informed that failute to comply will result in team suspension from use of the fields.
