01-25-1977 PR MIN ELK RIVER PARK BOARD CITY HALL January 25, 1977 at 7:30 PM. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Stan Moreland, Steve Ostby. BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Ken Nel:;1on, Bob Westerlund. TERMS OF OFFICE:, It was explained to Board members that present terms of office will terminate when consolidation takes place. It is not known at this time how the new Park Board will be set up. PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: Three new items of playground equipment were purchased in December 1976 for Orono Park. Purchase was made from Trojan Playground Equipment Co. in St. Cloud and invoice was paid from 1976 budget. SKI TRAIL: Discussion held on possible recreational development of old dump area. Steve Ostby suggested a ski trail for the area. He will check into feasibility and have rough plan and proposal made. POWER USAGE: Chairman Gene Schuldt reported that utilities office informed him power is still being used in Orono Park and at the two softball fields. as an example, from 11/14/76 to 12/14/76 800 kilowatts were used at the Fairgrounds Field, which cost $26.57. Utilities office was instructed to disconnect all transformers, which accounts for the usage. On Friday night, Jan 21st, a teacher's group will use Orono Park ballfield and the lights for a mid-winter ball game. Meter will be read on Monday Jan. 24th and cost of power will be paid by group. In addition to old city dump grounds, the Bailey flood plain area and Ridgewood East areas were discussed. Builder's plans for Ridgewood East include tennis 'courts, ball fields, and a building to be constructed. If developers are having ;f'inancial problems, they may be open for lease offer and have city build facilities. Meeting adjourned 8:45 P.M.
