Budget Review. Ci ty Clerk did not have up-te-date figures for expenses and
salaries. It will be late September before all bills are in and paid.
Park Well. Four-inch well, 80 to 100 feet deep, with submersible pump. 1t inch
plastic line (non....rigid) will be run to each bench at softball field, outfield
area, and to horseshoe court. Ken Nelson will get an estimate for well and
pump from Len's Well Service for comparison.
Yield Sign. Russ Matchmsky was contacted and he will have another sign put
up on Gary Street at Orono Road.
Outfield Fence. Steve Ostby had contacted Dale Borquist and it will be taken
care of. He will also straighten and repair all of the fence, including the
gate.
Beach Gates. Unable to determine original intent for gates. Board felt there was
no real need for them. Moreland moved, Ostby seconded to remove gates. Carried
unaminously. Ken Nelson will have them removed.
NEW BUSINESS
Park Board Improvements. Grading and gravel (class #5) would be the cheapest
way to go. Three-inch layer of gravel would be sufficient. Cost would be for
gravel only and should not exceed $100.00.
Weekend Softball Diamond Use. Problem is, softball tournaments scheduled spon-
taneously by association which end up conflicting with company's and groups that
have reserved the park on the basis of using the softball field. Board was in
favor of reserving one weekend a month for public use. Ostby moved, -Nelson
seconded that last full weekend of each month be set aside for public use.
Unaminously carried. Board also discussed possible $50.00 deposit be made
proir to tournaments to ensure proper clean-up.
July 4th Recommendations. It was brought out that two problems arose from 1977
July 4th activities in Orono Park: (1) complaints on music late at night and
(2) beer being consumed by minors in the dark. - Discussion brought out possibility
that curtailing late music may eliminate beer problem. Moreland moved, Ostby
seconded that no music be allowed after 10,:100 p.m. It was also recommen.ded that
additional lighting be placed in the park for this day to facilitate crowd control
and policing.
