PARK EOAHD MEETING
MAY 18, 1978 AT 7:30 P.M.
Members present: Ralph Brown, Gene Schuldt, John Dietz.
Member absent: Steve Ostby, Walt Schumacher.
Guest present: Wayne Becklin, Marly Glines, Jim Dingle.
Eent Harrington, Craig Swanson, Tony Mikols and Wayne Becklin, came to discuss
Orono Beach opening. He will be lifeguard for weekends. He will install
dock at Orono beach. Hours on Saturday and Sunday at beach will be 1:00-
8:00 P.M.
New sign should be made with open beach hours posted and a "no alcohol allowed"
sentence.
T\larly Glines represented Softball Association and asked for $300.00 to pay
for part of well at Kuss field. Softball Association will pay $1,100.00 for
well. McA1tpine bid $1,400.00 for well, Renner $1,400.00, and Cowles $1,950.00.
r1otion madteand passed that Park Board pay $300.00 toward well.
Kent Harrington presented pool program to Park Board. Township did not get
extra $1,000.00 for pool program for City, so that will have to be made up
in revenue from admissions charged for open swimming. Pool summer program
will be tried for 3 weeks and then reevaluated at next Park Board meeting.
Jim Dingle would like Joint Rec. Board by-lal~s rewritten. Gene Schuldt will
represent Park Board at such a meeting.
Crony Mikols represented Elk Hi ver Community Theatre and discussed community
sign that is now under construction at the City Park. Sign will be 8'x8'
face and will be open to public advertising.
Motion made by John Dietz, seconded by Halph Brown to pay a kid for 2t hrs.
a day at $2.65 an hour to work on parks from May 22nd thru June 9. Board
approved $100 for kid.
Discussion of high cost of satellites. Other possible distributors of satellites
will be checked.
Softball Association has installed lights at Derr-Greupner softball fieilid
and they are now opera-Clonal.
Condition of stands at Derr-Greupner was discussed. Ralph will call block man
and get estimate of costs on repairs.
