Background/Discussion
The current Minnesota legislature is considering a bill to shutter the NorthStar Commuter Rail. City officials
from communities served by NorthStar have shared concerns about the future of the station properties,
transit-oriented developments nearby, the status of various agreements and financial instruments to
encourage development.
Some city councils have sent letters to the state and Met Council officials involved.
Staff would like the Council to provide their thoughts regarding the efforts to participate in the closure
discussion.
