Appoint, by motion, ____ as acting mayor for 2025.
Background/Discussion
Per state law (412.121) the City Council is required to appoint an acting mayor. The acting mayor performs
the duties of mayor during the disability or absence of the mayor, or if there is a vacancy in the office.
Although all council members are eligible for this appointment, past practice has been a rotation of Wards 4-
1-3-2, which corresponds with the election terms and allows new members to gain experience before
assuming the role.

2024 Ward 4 - Wagner
Following past practice, Councilmember Grupa would be appointed acting mayor for 2025.
