Background/Discussion
ISD #728 is discussing capital improvements at Elk River High School, including the status of the Little
Theater.
In late 2001, the district asked the council to consider funding improvements to the Little Theater to keep it
operating for public use. Following multiple council conversations, the council approved a contribution of
$563,000 in five installments over 48 months to the school district to keep the theater in operation with
priorities for city-identified groups.
Records research has not found any documents showing the city took ownership or had any control beyond
certain public uses.
This item is intended as a follow-up following ISD #728 School Board deliberations to date and an
opportunity to provide staff direction.
