Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Torren Johnson to the position of part-time community service officer I,
effective June 9, 2025.
Background/Discussion
The part-time Community Service Officer I position is designed for students in a law enforcement program.
Mr. Johnson will graduate next month from Zimmerman High School and start the online criminal justice
program with Bemidji State University this fall.
This is a temporary position lasting one to three years, depending on education duration and job
performance. Mr. Johnson will start at step A of pay grade 6N and work 24 hours per week. All pay and
benefits will follow city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
