DISCUSSION:
• Installed 21 new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line
once the customer requests service.
• Joe Schmidt, safety instructor from MMUA, was here on May 28-29, doing field
evaluations and the annual safety training on pole top and bucket rescue.
• Crews continue to work on the overhead rebuild along Highway 169, north of the North
substation.
• The bore crew and one line crew are currently working in the industrial park in Elk River
off County Road 1. They are working on installing new primary wire for the additional
service at J&J Machine as well as replacing some older underground primary wire within
the park.
• Crews continue to work on the underground wire replacement in the Deerfield addition
in Elk River.
• Our two temporary lineworkers started May 13, and are in full swing helping our crews
as well as learning the skills of the trade.
• I am reviewing emergency preparedness plans from other utilities as we update and
broaden our own plan.
• Bradford Park housing development received asphalt recently and small utility
placement is scheduled for the first part of June. This will add close to 20 new buildable
lots to the development.
