Background/Discussion
The FT Center will be installing a digital monument sign on School Street this fall and placing it on ISD 728
property as detailed in the amendment. The City and ISD 728 mutually agreed that a shared sign was not in
the best interest of both parties.
In consideration of the use of ISD 728's property for the city’s sign, the city will bear the cost of relocating
electrical services for the district’s sign to be replaced in a new location on district property. The city’s
relocation cost shall not exceed $10,000. The district shall be responsible for any relocation costs that exceed
$10,000.
In its operation of the city sign, any content posted shall respect the district's content policies. The city shall
not use words or images that directly promote alcohol, tobacco, drugs, drug paraphernalia, weapons, or any
obscene, pornographic, or other illegal materials. The city shall refrain from accepting any advertisement fee
or sponsorship donation that would result in the display of content that is inconsistent with these posting and
advertising guidelines. Permissible advertising content may include the following examples:
▪ Restaurant hours of operation, such as “The Overlook 21+ Lounge open today from 6–10 p.m.”
▪ Sporting events, such as “Squash vs. ABC tonight at 7 p.m.”
Financial Impact
The city’s cost to relocate electrical services for ISD 728's future sign shall not exceed $10,000.
