Sue called the meeting to order and minutes were reviewed. II. Financial statement — Reviewed. Piano keys sold are now up to 35 or $3,500 III. Old Business A. March Main Event —Lion's Pancake Dinner, Thursday, March 27th B. Review of March Events — Art classes started at 413 Proctor. St. Cloud Legal Service program was cancelled again —we are not sure if we should continue to co-sponsor these programs since they have cancelled so many times. Silver Sneakers classes continue to grow and we need to expand our fitness area again. C. Silvertones Report — Performance on March 17tn at Elim Home in Princeton. Performance in Monticello on April 11 th. May 1st Sven and 011ie will perform. May 291h Silvertones will perform at the Activity Center Grand opening. D. Community Ed. Report — No report. E. April Main Event — Volunteer party on Tues. April 22"d at 2pm. This party is planned by staff. F. Other — Sue contacted the members of the Advisory Council to seek approval for using the memorial fund to purchase a reposed baby grand piano that is about one year old. This purchase will save several thousand dollars compared to a new one. Monies from the general fund, chair fund and ceramics will also used be used for the purchase. IV. New Business A. Other Events in the Area — Chow Mien dinner on April 24tn at the Methodist Church. Senior Day Out is May 13tn. RSVP banquet May 141h in St. Cloud. B. Outings — Quarterly trips to Crossroads are planned. Casino trip and Czech country trips in April. Old Log Theater and Older Americans celebration in May. Plymouth Playhouse and Betty Rydell trips in June. C. May Main Event — Activity Center Grand Opening on Thursday, May 29tn There will be a shuttle to take GA tenants back and forth. D. Other — V. Silvertones Report — Practice on Feb. 11, 18 and 25. Perform at Adult Daycare Center in Princeton on March 17th D. Community Ed. Report — Fitness classes and WWII series going well. Korean War series may be planned next, since WWII series was so popular. E. February Main Event — "The Courage to Be" presentation. Co- sponsored with Pullman Place on Tues. Feb 26th at 1 pm. Also, Neighborhood Coffee Party on Feb. 21 St at 10:30am. Both at 413 Proctor Activity Center. F. Other — A part-time receptionist/secretary has been hired for the 413 proctor site. Sue called the meeting to order at 1 pm. Minutes were reviewed. 11. Financial statement — Reviewed. $100 will be transferred from Silvertones fund to Piano Key Donations. III. Old Business A. December Main Event — No co -sponsored brunch with Santa as the Senior Center is closed on Monday, Dec. 24tn , the day of the dining site brunch. B. Review of Nov/Dec. Events — Limited events due to moving, hiring, annual report and budget deadlines. New program "Sharing Faith" started and was very successful. Greeting card classes continue to be very popular. C. Silvertones Report — Optional 3rd practice on the 3rd Monday each month has been very helpful. Busy with performances in December including; First Friends 12/12, Twin Lakes Church 12/14, Zion Church 12/08, Dining Site 12/20 and Ramsey Srs on 12/27. D. Community Ed. Report — New brochure out on Dec. 26., includes indoor walking, WWII series, beginning bridge and a Saturday sampler class program. E. January Main Event — Co -sponsored event on Sat. Jan. 26tn at 2pm with Floyd Oleson. Music by Town & Country Jammers. Also co- sponsored Italian Festival with Senior Dining on Wed. Jan 16tn F. Other — Reminder that programs will continue at 350 Evans site as usual. It is important to put forth a positive attitude towards those that are concerned about new sight and changes. Events — Card Making classes very successful. OktoberFest on 10/25 went well. Vet's Coffee Hour bringing new people. Caregiver program on 11/8 co -sponsored with Faith in Action. C. Q Senior Center Advisory Council Monday, August 20, 2007 10 am Senior Center 350 Evans Present were: Jay Grammond, Millicent Busch, Mary Heck, Clinton Yancey, Sue Kostanshek and Annette Bonin I. Sue called the meeting to order at 10 am. Minutes were reviewed II. Financial statement — Reviewed. Sue explained the need for additional funds for the new activity center. Clinton suggested that $500 from Bingo fund be used if needed. Memorial funds will also be used to purchase items that will be used by everyone, such as tables and chairs. III. Old Business A. August Main Event/Review of August events. — National Night Out was very successful, over 100 people attended. Golf tournament will be held August 28th. Card making class on August 13th was enjoyed by all. B. Silvertones Report — Practice resuming in September. Practices on the 2nd and 4th Mondays in the Activity Room. Optional practice will be on the 3rd Monday. This season there will be new sheet music with more parts and harmonies. Discussion of banner, buttons (I Love to Sing), and business cards. C. Community Ed. Report — New brochure comes out August 22 d. Classes include swing and salsa dancing, water walking and knitting. Other new offerings are Weather Forecasting and Global Warming. D. September Main Event — Dessert and Coffee Concert on September 20th at 6 pm. Cribbage tournament on Sept. 19th. NewComers on Sept. 18'. Red Hat Luau on Sept. 1 Ith at Silver Springs in Monticello. E. Other — New activity starting — Vet�Qs Coffee and Conversation. September 25th meeting will feature a video "What is a Veteran. IV New Business A. Other Events in the Area — Senior Day Out, Sept. 26th in Zimmerman. October 25th is the Meatball Dinner at the Methodist Church. B. Outings — September Boat Cruise is already full. Dance expenses may be for two months, Sue will check on this. III. Old Business A. January Main Event — Cabin Fever Day was successful. Everyone enjoyed the hobby displays and the music. Numbers were down throughout the community for this event. B. Review of February events — About 29 people attended Healthy Living. The presenter was a pharmacist discussing medications. Still to come in February is a cribbage tournament on Feb. 26th, and the baby shower for CAER on Sat. Feb. 21st. C. Silvertones Report — Mary Heck was not present to report. The Silvertones will be singing for the Ramsey seniors on March 3`a D. Community Ed Report — Jodi reported that the numbers were down for the Handke Open House. Community Ed is looking for new approaches to reach people for the Handke Memory project. RSVP volunteers may be asked to help interview people at care centers. Plans are being made for the Spring Recital. Date has to be confirmed. Foxies and Line Dancers will be asked to perform. The Aqua instructor is checking on the possibility of having a senior water fitness class. A beading class is scheduled for March 27th at the Senior Center. E. March Main Event - Lions Pancake Dinner. March 18th. Cost $3.00 plus an item for CAER. Free bingo starts at 4 PM. Music during and after dinner. Sue called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm. The minutes were reviewed and approved II. Financial statement was reviewed. The Bingo fund will be going down since Hot Potato Party supplies come from Bingo Fund III. Old Business A. November Main Event — Hot Potato Party Nov. 18. Bingo at 3, with dinner following. Girl Scouts will help. Cost is $3.00 Half of the money will go to CAER B. Review of November Events — Veterans Day program was very successful. Historical Society program was not well attended. Still to come is Healthy Living on Nov. 20th. The shopping trip to Crossroads in St. Cloud was changed to Nov. 25th. We need 15 people to �o. C. Silvertones Report — First Friends performance Dec. 17t . Dining Site performance on Dec. 18th. Two new members have joined Silvertones. Practices on Dec.8,15, and 22nd D.Community Ed Report — 55 Alive classes are full for December. A new class will be offered in January by Kurt Kragness on oral history. Feb. 81h is Rotary Pancake Day at Handke. Memories of Hanke project will be presented. Jodi will do table tents for Dining Room explaining this project. E. December Main Event — Brunch with Santa on Dec. 24th. Music and pictures with Santa provided by the Senior Center. New Years Eve brunch will have music by Char Moore. F. Other — Many groups coming in to entertain during the Holidays, including singers, dance recitals and card and gift wrapping. IV. New Business a. Other Events in the Area — None. b. Outings — Same as last month. A 2-day casino trip may be planned with Monticello. Usually there are no trips in Jan. or Feb. due to the weather. c. January Main Event — Cabin Fever on Saturday, Jan. 31 ". This is a community wide event. There will be a hobby display along with lunch and displays of RSVP, SALT, etc. d.
