Action Requested
Review and discuss the mission and vision for the city and come to a consensus on goals.
Background/Discussion
Annually, the City Council hosts a retreat to set priorities for future fiscal periods. The City Council sets the
vision for the community and adopts short, mid, and long-term goals to achieve a vision across all city
departments. While these goals do not represent a complete list of city services, they do provide guidance to
city staff on which areas the City Council considers priority.
Financial Impact
In discussing goals and priorities, the resources needed to support them are also discussed. The goals set by
the City Council will determine some future budget items brought forward by city departments.
Mission/Policy/Goal
Where the Council and staff work with citizens to develop a sustainable and prosperous community for all to
live, work, and play; and to appropriately govern in an ever-changing environment.
