Prepared by effre A. Beahen, Police Chief Reviewed by Introduction Investigator Steven Bockwitz recently retired from the Elk River Police Department. Discussion Investigator Bockwitz officially retired from the Police Department on March 14t\ 2006, after 31 years of police service. He was originally hired as an officer with the Big Lake Police Department, where he was promoted to the position of Police Chief in 1981. On January 5, 1988, Steven was hired as a patrol officer here at the Elk River Police Department. He served in that capacity until December 3, 1988 when he was assigned to the investigative unit as a criminal investigator. He served in that position until he retired on March 14th, Steve was a very valuable member of this agency, and we will be presenting him with a departmental commendation as well as a plaque from the City on Monday night. Please join me in wishing him continued success and happiness in his retirement from our agency. Financial Impact Attachments . Council Action Motion by _ Second by _ Vote Follow Up S:\Council\Forms\Request Council Action.doc PROCLAMATION Steve Bockwitz WHEREAS, Steve Bockwitz has retired from the Elk River Police Department after 18 years of service to the community and over 30 years in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Steve Bockwitz has aided numerous citizens through his commitment and skill as a police officer and investigator; and WHEREAS, Steve Bockwitz has earned the respect and friendship of his peers, co- workers, and the community; and WHEREAS, For his dedicated service to the community, the Elk River City Council, fellow employees and citizens of the community extend their sincere appreciation to Steve Bockwitz and wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement. WHEREAS, I, Stephanie Klinzing, Mayor of the City of Elk River, do hereby proclaim Monday, April 3, 2006 as STEVE BOCKWITZ DAY, in recognition and appreciation of the loyal and professional service provided by Steve Bockwitz.
