The regular meeting of the Village Planning Commission - October 25, 1973
After some discussion and upon motion, it was decided to recommend to the
Council that copies of the Township and County Planning Commission action
regarding the Marvin George Addition be sent to the Village Council
recommending a meeting between the Council and Marvin George to discuss
utility service for his addition and then to set a timetable for the
blacktopping of the roads by Marvin George, developer.
A hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. for Security Federal Savings & Loan
requesting a variance of a 10 ft. side yard on the east edge of their
building located Lot 3, Block 4, Original Town. Fourteen parking spaces
appeared to meet all requirements and, after some discussion and upon motion,
the Planning Commission recommended acceptance of this request and approval
to the Village Council to grant a building permit subject to approval by
Rex Oetinger, Zoning Administrator.
Dick Gongoll is to check with Dick Fredlund on the area growth study and
have information for the next meeting.
There was some discussion of the developments and improvements in the Hohlen
Mobile Home Park indicating a possible violation of code in the new area.
It was agreed some action should be taken on this in the near future.
Ed Breissig appeared for the Farm Service Assln. requesting permission
to build on the west side of his building approximately 25 ft. to the
sidewalk. He was advised that some parking for his employees may be
necessary and he indicated he was negotiating with R. Dare to lease parking
off-street for employees. The commission recommended that he meet with
Rex Oetinger as soon as possible to make an official request and that a
hearing be set at 6:45 P.M. on November 19, 1973, just previous to Village
Council meeting.
Dan Bailey's written Highway Report was discussed and all members agreed
it was time to take action on the Highway 10 and Burlington Northern Rail
problem through the Village of Elk River. Members further agreed to study
the report, make notations and constructive criticism before the next
meeting. It was decided the report should be finalized as soon as possible
and circulated to State Planning Agencies, Highway Department, all political
representatives, and any other pertinent official group.
