The City Council authorized the advertisement for the vacancy
on the Park & Recreation Commission. The applications were
accepted until March 5, 1993. This vacancy was created because
Commissioner Byron Houghtelin, whose term expires at the end on
1993, resigned.
Attached for your review are the two applications that the City
received for this vacancy. The Park & Recreation Commission
discussed this vacancy at its last meeting and requested that a
Commissioner be in attendance when the interviews take place in
order to help answel:" City Council questions on the role and
function of the Par~ & Recreation Commission.

At this meeting tne City Council should determine an interview
date and time for the two applicants so that the City can
proceed with fillincf this vacancy on the Commission.

The City of Elk River is currently seeking candidates to fill a
vacancy on the Citys Park and Recreation Commission. Terms
for the Park and Recreation Commission are for three (3) years.
The function of the Park and Recreation Commission is to offer
recommendations on the development and maintenance of city
parks and recreation programs. The commission meets on the
first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
Elk River residents interested in serving on the Park and
Recreation Commission are requested to submit an applica-
tion. Applications are available at City Halt, 720 Dodge Ave.
NW. Applications will be accepted through March 5, 1993.
