Introduction
The police departlnent currently l1as nvo ,.racancies for tlle position of police officer to fill. These
\Tacancies \vere created by tlle retirelnents of Sergeant Tyler and In'vestigator lVIiller and tlle related
promotion of Investigator Vita to Sergeant (replacing Sgt. Tyler) and Officer Gacke replacing Investigator
rvliller. Tile councilllas gi\Ten permission to select candidates to fill tllese positions. I aln no\v requesting
perlnission to lnake nvo conditi011al offers to t\vo candidates. Tllese candidates 11a\Te passed tlle
background phase of the process, and upon receiving the conditional offer, would then complete dle
psychological and medical portions of the hiring process. Once dlat is complete, I request that dle

There is 110 financiallinpact, \ve are actually \vay ahead in terlTIS of our budget \vitll se'veral positions
having been unfilled during the year as well as officers being hired at less dlan top patrol, additional
payroll sa\;ngs tllat \vill continue d1.tougll tlle relnaining portion of tlus year and next.
