Introduction
Rivers Edge Commons revised plan.
Discussion
Council reviewed a revised plan for Rivers Edge Commons on June 5, 2006. Council consensus was that
keeping the ally open was a negative and directed staff to look at ways of enhancing the ally. A revised
plan (attached) uses replaces the ally blacktop with brick pavers that match downtown sidewalks. In
addition, the plan adds landscaping to the west side of the ally to make it feel like part of the park. The
ally could be closed during events with minimum impact to local businesses.
Fire Chief Bruce West supports retaining the ally to provide emergency vehicle access to the rear of the
Cinema building.
