SUBJECT: HIRING OF WWTS OPERATOR
I would like to recommend the hiring of Gary Leirmoe for the
position of WWTS Operator for the City of Elk River starting
6/1/93. Because of Gary's ten years experience in the WWTS
field, I am requesting Council authorization to start him at
Step I of the pay plan which is $11.06 per hour. Also, because
the steps in the pay plan are based on the license held by the
employee, Gary could move to Step IV of the pay plan at the end
of the six month probation period pending MPCA approval of
trading his Iowa operators license for a Minnesota Class C
operators license.

Gary was one of approximately 45 applicants that applied for
the position. He was selected as one of six people to be
interviewed. During the interview, Gary showed great
confidence in his ability to perform all duties connected with
the operation of the WWTS. Gary more than meets our
requirements for the operator position. His application and
resume are on file at City Hall for your review.
