These motivational get togethers, affectionately called, Steering
Committee Meetings, are really exciting to attend, don't you
agree?
We adq Officer Bryan Vita to our committee list, and glad to
see Clay Thompson joining Rick Olson in the leadership role
with youth.
Lots has happened since our last meeting, as noted on the agenda,
and Clint Corrow updated us on the build and the site. The
building site has been chosen, in Hillside Estates, off of 169,
take a right on 193rd, the second lot on the left next to the
DelServe model. The lot next to the site may also be held open
for our use. The architects of the home, Youngblood, Connecticut,
are forwarding drawings to KLH Design in Elk River. Designers
will donate changes and redrafting. Just as soon as the
redrafting is complete, Dan, Clint and other builders will do
a "take off" of materials needed. Since Dan Rochel has built
this house before, a piece of cake, right Dan? Clint hopes
to have all material needs defined and donated by the first
of July. Big job. Dan and Clint can use help in office
coordination, have office volunteers contact them. The developer
has donated the land. We have the full support of builders
such as Christian, Ziegler, Chuba, Hearthstone. Hank has asked
the city for definition on the assessments, for formal sign-
off by the city. Preliminary indicators have told us that at
least $60,000 has been donated to date. All right, Bryan, sign
up for school.
George Zabee made two recommendations. We should consider having
satellite facilities at the site, two for workers, two for the
public. Tom Zerwas will contact Phil Halls to see what the
city can recommend. And, George, discussed concern for other
landowners in the development should the closing get-together
be held at the build site. It might be better to host the big,
barbeque finale at Lion's Park on Sunday, August 22. Hosting
it in front of the house may not give us enough room for every-
one who wants to attend, and people might cross other property,
landscaping etc. and disturb it. Charlie and Rick will pass
this concern along to their committees.
with the help of Linda Causton, we have the elementary kids,
S.A.D.D., Minnesota Target, school principals and student council
youth involved and informed about the project. 500 completed
posters were displayed at our meeting and are available for
committee use. Rick Olson has had several meetings with high
school youth and principals too. One member of the student
council announced at the Rotary meeting, "Rick Olson came and
personally spoke to our council, we are very excited about this
project, it is just the kind of thing we have wanted to be part
of." Our committee is taking alot of personal effort and time
- and it shows in the enthusiasm generated. Thanks to Rick
also for informing the Minnesota Builders Assn. and the Minnesota
realtors board. They also want to be of help in promoting the
build and donating labor and materials. Their publications will
feature our event. Rick will speak to all the state's chambers
about the event around the first of June. Thanks big guy.

The Committee reviewed a proposed, corporate contribution letter.
The success of this approach to obtain additional monies will
rely heavily on "who we know" to get this letter to the right
people. Personal contact will be needed, then a mailing, then
another followup, will be needed to enhance our success ratio.

call Patsy Kropuenske with people's names, within companies.
When the packets are ready for contact to be made, you will
be supplied that information.

Hank Duitsman will contact the mayors of the five other towns
involved in our school district to make sure they have been
made away of our plans and progress.
Charlie will contact Patsy Kropuenske about Franklin Outdoor
signs, as he has a contact there. We really need a billboard,
or some type of signage on 169.
June 8, Tom Z., Linda F., Rick 0., will present a budget to
the Elk River United Way committee to see what kind of assistance
they could provide for the promotional monies needed for this
project. Over $2,000 will be needed for signage, etc., details
attached to your May 20 meeting agenda notes.
