SUBJECT: 165TH AVENUE OVERLAY BIDS
Item 4.7.
The bids for the 165th Avenue overlay project will be opened at
10:00 a.m. on August 16. The results of the bid opening will
be available for Council review at the August 16, Council
meeting. The Council will be asked to consider these bids at
Monday evenings meeting.

RE: 165TH STREET OVERLAY CONSTRUCTION BIDS
Dear Council Members:
We have tabulated the bids received this morning, August 16, 1993, for the overlay of 165th Street
from the RDF Plant to the east City limits. There were a total of five bids received. The following
table lists each bidder and his total bid:

Bauerly Brothers, Inc.
W. B. Miller, Inc.
Valley Paving, Inc.
Metro Paving, Inc.

The bids are all very competitive and within the budget amount anticipated for this project. Alber
Construction has not worked within the City of Elk River in the past. Therefore, we checked
references with the City of Brooklyn Center and City of Edina where they have completed similar type
projects within the last two years. Both Cities highly recommended Alber Construction. Therefore,
we would recommend the City Council award the 165th Street Overlay project to Alber Construction
as the lowest responsible bidder. Attached is a draft resolution accepting the bid and authorizing
execution of a contract with Alber Construction for the improvements.
If you have any questions, I will be in attendance at your August 16th, 1993, City Council meeting.
