SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTEE
When Planning Commissioner Rita Johnson resigned earlier this
year, the City Council interviewed Bob Emerson and James
Tacheny for this vacant position. The Council indicated that
it was very pleased with both candidates, but eventually
decided to appoint Bob to fulfill Rita's term (expires
12/31/93). Unfortunately, Bob has not been able to fulfill his
commitment on the Planning Commission and has regretfully
resigned. Attached for your review is Bob's resignation
letter. Also attached is Mr. Tacheny's application information
from earlier this year.

At this time the City Council can either advertise for
applicants, reinterview Mr. Tacheny for this position, or
simply appoint Mr. Tacheny for this term. While the Mayor is
not in attendance at this Council meeting, I understand he has
had some conversations about this vacancy with Mr. Tacheny and
he is still interested in serving on the Planning Commission.
