AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE POLICE OFFICERS
This is to inform the City Council that we have almost completed
the selection process for the positions of police officer. The
selection process consisted of a written examination, a report
writing test, a physical agility test, a background investigation,
a psychological evaluation, and a medical examination.

I am, therefore, requesting authorization to hire both candidates
as full-time police officers effective the week of October 18,
1993. The appointment of the candidates would be contingent upon
them successfully passing their psychological and medical
examination.
If both candidates are authorized, they will have to successfully
complete a three (3) month Field Training Officer (FTO) Program
with experienced officers before they are allowed to work alone as
an Elk River Police Officer. This will delay any realization of
additional personnel until January of 1994.
