INTRODUCTION:
Because Elk River is no longer in two congressional

Staff has taken this opportunity to reevaluate the number of
existing polling locations. Currently there are three polling
locations in the City; Meadowvale School, Elk River Area Senior
High School and Lincoln School. Staff is proposing to add City
Hall as a polling place so that residents from each ward will
vote at a separate polling location that is located in their
ward.
WARD 1 - 1,847 registered voters - Elk River City Hall
WARD 2 - 2,105 registered voters - Meadowvale Elem. School
WARD 3 - 1,955 registered voters - Elk River Area Senior High

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE POLLING LOCATIONS FOR VOTING
WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
WHEREAS, a Supreme Court decision in February, 1993, moved the
congressional line that divided Congressional
Districts 6 and 8 within the City of Elk River; and,
WHEREAS, as a result of the Supreme Court decision, the City
of Elk River, in its entirety, is located in
congressional District 8; and,
WHEREAS, the removal of the congressional line has resulted in
the elimination of all precinct boundary lines; and,
WHEREAS, the Elk River City Council adopted Ordinance 93-____
which redescribes the City's existing Ward lines to
show the elimination of the precinct boundary lines;
and,
WHEREAS, as a result of the removal of precinct boundary lines
in Elk River, new polling places have been determined.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the polling locations for
the City of Elk River are as follows:
WARD 1 - ELK RIVER CITY HALL
13065 Orono Parkway
WARD 2 - MEADOWVALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
12701 Elk Lake Road
WARD 3 - ELK RIVER AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA AMENDING
SECTION 300.00 OF THE CITY CODE, "WARDS"
Section 1. That Section 300.00 of the City Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended by eliminating the Precincts in
the City of Elk River and that the existing Wards shall remain
intact.
Section 2. That the boundaries for wards 1, 2, 3, and 4
have been redescribed to show the elimination of precincts and
shall read as follows:
300.00 - WARDS
The City of Elk River shall have a ward system for the election
of Councilmembers as follows:
WARD 1:
Northern Boundary: All that property within the
corporate limits of the City lying south of the following
described northern boundary:

Beginning at the intersection of Ranch Road (CR 33) and
the Zebulon Avenue alignment. East on Ranch Road to
County Road 1.
Western Boundary: All that property within the
corporate limits of the City lying east of the following
described western boundary:
Beginning at the intersection of 2l7th Avenue alignment
and the Zebulon Street alignment. South along the Zebulon
Street alignment to the Mississippi River.
Eastern Boundary: All that property within the
corporate limits of the City lying west of the following
described eastern boundary:

Beginning at the intersection of County Road 1 and County
Road 33. South on County Road 1 to County Road 32. West
on County Road 32 to Lander Street. South on Lander
Street to County Road 35. East on County Road 35 to
Meadowvale Road. East on Meadowvale Road to Xenia
