PURCHASE OF 1994 POLICE VEHICLES
The Elk River Police Department has received two quotes for the
purchase of 1994 police squad cars. We received quotes from Elk
River Ford and Saxon Motors.
The quote from Elk River Ford was for a 1994 Ford Crown victoria
police package squad car per our specifications; Elk River Ford's
quote was for $13,836.10 (Thirteen thousand, eight hundred thirty-
six dollars and ten cents).
The quote from Saxon Motors was for a 1994 Chevrolet caprice sedan
police package squad car per our specifications; Saxon Motor's
quote was for $14,581. 00 (Fourteen thousand, five hundred and
eighty-one dollars).

I also received information on the State of Minnesota Bid for Squad
Cars which was awarded to superior Ford for 1994 Ford Crown
victorias at a purchase price of $13,788.00 (Thirteen thousand,
seven hundred and eighty-eight dollars).
The State bid is $48.10 (Forty-eight dollars and ten cents) cheaper
per vehicle than the Elk River Ford quote. The City of Elk River is
authorized to buy off of the State Contract; however, I would
recommend that we purchase our three (3) police vehicles from Elk
River Ford.
The city Council elected to purchase the squads through Elk River
Ford last year under similar conditions. If you have any questions
in regards to this request, please see me.

police vehicle. We bid a new 1994 Ford Crown Victoria which meets
or exceeds your specifications with the following exceptions:
1. Rear and front bumper guards are not available.
2. Roof drip molding is concealed and is not usable to
anchor any roof or any antenna equipment.
Our bid is $13,836.10 plus any applicable state sales or use taxes.
Approximate delivery time is 90-100 day ARO.
