Again this year, as in last year, the University of Wisconsin
has added a special training session in mechanical
inspections. This type of continuing education is very
beneficial for effective field inspections. Mechanical
inspections are a critical activity linked to the construction
and maintenance of healthful and safe working environments.
This course will meet my needs in fulfilling my goal in new
heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technologies and
will assist in my continuing education credits for recertifying
my State Building Official's license.
This type of course is not offered in this state. Minnesota
courses deal with code related issues not how the equipment
works. Attached is an outline of the mechanical course. As
you review this information, note that it covers all areas of
mechanical inspection. Therefore, I am asking the City Council
for approval to attend this conference. The cost is
approximately $950.00. If you need further information, feel

ing Department; 15 years' experience in mechanical con-
tracting and construction followed by 12 years of building
code administration; Bachelor of Science Degree in Engi-
neering and Technology and further training in special
equipment and services; Serves on the Education Testing
Services (ETS) Committee at Princeton University; Pres-
ently serving as Committee Chairman for the Mechanical
Advisory Committee of the National Certification Program
