SUBJECT: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING SANITARY
SEWER IN MEADOWVALE COMMERCIAL PARK
BACKGROUND
On October 18, 1993, the City Council approved a plat for
Meadowvale Commercial Park located just north of County Road 1,
immediately south of Meadowvale School. Prior to the property
owner making application to the City to plat the property,
private utilities were installed in anticipation of future
subdivision of the property. One of the conditions for
approval of the Meadowvale Commercial Park plat was for the
applicant to provide asbuilt utility drawings of the existing
utility line prior to the City accepting the utilities. The
applicant has recently provided the City with this
information. Terry Maurer has had an opportunity to review the
plans and recommends the City accept the existing utility lines.

Attached is a letter from Terry Maurer along with a resolution
accepting the sanitary sewer in Meadowvale Commercial Park as a
public improvement.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the City Council approve the resolution
accepting the sanitary sewer line in Meadowvale Commercial Park.

RE: MEADOWVALE COMMERCIAL PARK
SANIT ARY SEWER LINE
Dear Mr. Ach:
As we discussed during the review of the Meadowvale Commercial Park, the sanitary sewer
which serves the three lots contained within this development was initially installed by the
owners. This was done at the time that the trunk line was extended along the abandoned
railroad right-of-way at the east side of the plat. Now that the owners have subdivided the
property, it would be appropriate for the City to consider accepting this sanitary sewer line
as a public facility. The sewer line is eight inches in diameter and constructed of the
proper material.
We would recommend that the City accept this line and take responsibility for maintenance
and ownership. I believe the appropriate easements to allow access for maintenance have
been provided on the final plat. Attached is a draft resolution that I have prepared for your
consideration which would accept these facilities.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
ACCEPTING THE SANITARY SEWER IN THE
MEADOWVALE COMMERCIAL PARK
AS A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT
WHEREAS, the City has approved the plat of Meadowvale Commercial Park; and
WHEREAS, the Owners and Developers of Meadowvale Commercial Park have
previously extended an 8-inch sanitary sewer line through their property to
service the development; and
WHEREAS, the existing sanitary sewer line meets City standards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River,
Minnesota:

The existing sanitary sewer line running from the southeast corner of Lot 1,
Block 1, Meadowvale Commercial Park, easterly along the southerly portion of the
plat to the southeast corner of Lot 1, Block 2, Meadowvale Commercial Park, is
hereby accepted by the City of Elk River as a public sanitary sewer facility and the
City will maintain and operate the sewer line from this time forward.
