7.5. SR 03-28-1994 rll ---\.) ( ); Wl~ AGENDA ITEM 7.5. MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL STEVEN B. ACH, CITY PLANNERfl?- MARCH 28, 1994 DATE: SUBJECT: DISCUSS CITY COUNCIL CITIZEN APPOINTMENTS TO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN STEERING COMMITTEE The composition of the Steering Committee includes one citizen representative from each Ward within the City. These citizen representatives may be selected by the respective City Council person to serve on the Steering Committee. e The City Council may want to discuss how the citizen appointments take place. For example, if a Council member already has someone in mind that would want to serve on this Committee, an appointment could be made at this time. On the other hand, the Council may want to publish a brief article in the local paper asking for those citizens who may be interested in serving on a Steering Committee submit their name to be considered through a selection process. Since the Steering Committee's first meeting is scheduled for April 27, it is not necessary that the City Council take action on this item tonight. However, depending upon which process the City Council chooses to appoint the citizen representatives, these appointments could be delayed until the April 18 City Council meeting. This would still give staff the opportunity to assemble the list of the Steering Committee members and provide coordination for the April 27 Steering Committee meeting. REQUESTED ACTION 1. Consider the appropriate process to appoint the citizen representative to the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. 2. Consider making the citizen appointment this evening or delay action on this item until April 18, allowing additional time to consider possible representatives. e P.O.
