DEPARTMENT WORKSESSION

At the 4/4/94 City Council meeting, I indicated that the Fire Department had
held a worksession on the generalized topic of the future organizational
structure of the Fire Department per City Council request on 3/28/94. The
result of this Fire Department meeting included a request to meet with the
Council in a worksession to discuss the future of the Fire Department prior to
a recommendation coming from the Department to the Council on this issue.
A Thursday, 4/14/94 meeting date at the Fire Department was suggested, but
the Council indicated that all of its members could not be present at this
time, and I believe it is important that as many members as possible from
the City Council be in attendance at any joint worksession.
The Mayor reviewed this topic with members of the Fire Department at the
Fire Relief Association meeting on Tuesday, 4/5/94. I believe the Mayor will
have an update for the Council on this request from the Fire Department
along with some possible dates for a joint worksession.
