Introduction
The 2006 general fund budget contains $51,000 for a hoist for equipment services and a transmission
improvement for truck #226. Staff decided to put a hold on the hoist until the architectural master plan
study is approved and to reassign truck #226 from the snowplow fleet to a haul truck/ spare snowplow in
2009, thus eliminating the need for the transmission upgrade. These two changes make $51,000 available
to purchase 2007 equipment in 2006.
Discussion
Staff recommends the purchase of a % ton pickup from Elk River Ford, the vendor for the state contract,
for $24,450. This is the lowest price for comparable trucks of other manufacturers. This pickup will be
used by the Assistant Street Superintendent and his 1998 pickup will be passed down in the fleet with a
1989 pickup being retired.
Staff also recommends the purchase of a new Bobcat skid loader, model S250, from the state contract.
Lano Equipment is the vendor and they will take our Bobcat, model 773, on trade with the cash payment
of $21,438.45.
The balance of the funds will be used to purchase a crack router at a later date.
Financial Impact
Reallocate $51,000 from 2006 general fund to purchase 2007 equipment.
