Item Description
TH 169 Geometric and Environmental Study Update
Introduction
As directed by the City Council, we have been working with MnDOT to firm up the agreement
whereby the City will fund the TH 169 Geometric and Environmental Study. MnDOT currendy
has the SRF Consulting Group under contract for the Zimmerman portion of the study. The Elk
River portion will simply be added to the SRF Consulting Group contract and Elk River will pay
MnDOT through a cooperative agreement arrangement. It will likely take approximately two
months for MnDOT to prepare the agreements and present them to the City Council for
adoption.
Discussion
At this evening's meeting, I have invited Dave Montebello, Project Manager for the SRF Group
and Mary Karlsson, Senior Transportation Engineer, for the TH 169 Study. I have invited them
to the meeting so the City Council can meet the key participants from the consultant MnDOT
has hired to work on the study. As the scope of work has been explained to staff, there will be
opportunities for City Council meetings with the consultant after a preliminary layout has been
prepared and open public meetings afterwards.
