ITEM 8. 1.
MEMORANDUM
TO:
Mayor and City Council
FROM:
Sandy Thackeray, City Clerk
DATE:
April 21, 1994
SUBJECT: Elk River Lion's Premise Permit
Application to operate charitable
gambling at Broadway Bar and Pizza
INTRODUCTION
Elk River Lion's have made application to operate charitable gambling at
Broadway Bar and Pizza.
e
BACKGROUND
Broadway Bar and Pizza currently leases space to Camp Confidence for the
operation of charitable gambling (pull-tabs). Minnesota Statute does not
prohibit more than one gambling operation at a single location. However, the
gambling operations cannot lease the same space and, therefore, must
operate in different areas of the establishment.
If the Council approves the premise permit for the Elk River Lions, Broadway
Bar and Pizza will have two organizations operating charitable gambling
from its premise.
CONCLUSION
The attached resolution should be adopted if the Council approves the
request. A motion of denial should be made if the Council denies the request
