Introduction
During the weekends of July 27-30 and August 3-4, the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) in
cooperation with St. Cloud State University (SCSU) continued the archaeological work at the Alan
Hoebelheinrich property off Twin Lake.
Discussion
Approximately 32 volunteers were able to participate in the excavation, spending at least 4 hours getting
hands-on experience. There were also several people who came for the tours. The City was able to
receive donations from area businesses for fmancing, food, and beverages. The HPC and SCSU believe
this is a public educational opportunity rarely matched in the State and believe this work to be valuable to
the community.
Dr. Richard Rothaus, Professor from St. Cloud State University will be giving a brief presentation on
what was found this summer and what we hope to find in 2007 if the project is approved to continue.
The City would also like to recognize Alan Hoebelheinrich for being an outstanding citizen in allowing us
to excavate on his property the last couple of years and continue in 2007.
Financial Impact
$10,000 out of HPC budget and staff time
