River lnanufacturers annually during IvIN 1:vIanufacturer's \X1eek. TIle attached flyer highlights the
recognition ev^ent to be lleld Tuesday, October 17, 2006. The e\Tent \vill include tours of Elk Ri,Ter's
ne\vest manufacturers in Nortllstar Business Park and presentation about the status of the Nortllstar
Cormnuter RaiL In addition, tlle GO\Ternor's Chief of Staff Da\rid Gaitller \vill be attending tlle ev"ent on
bellalf of tlle GO\Ternor.

WHEREAS, TIle manufacturing industry is a dynamic part of I:vIinnesota's prosperous economy,
and promotion of this sector's strengtll, success, and high quality of life is an integral
part of I:vIinnesota's economic development strategy; and
WHEREAS, I\:fanufacturing pro\Tides lugll skill, lugh \vage jobs ,vluch significantly contribute to
IvIinnesota's bigll standard of li,ring and economic vitality; and
WHEREAS, I'v1anufacturing 11as tlle largest total payroll of any business sector in IvIinnesota,
pro\Tiding $16.8 billion in 2005 \\lages; and
WHEREAS, :~vlanufacturing produces $30.7 billion for tlle state economy and is the largest sllare,
13.7 percent of our gross state product; and
WHEREAS, rvIanufactured exports brougllt over $13.8 billion into tlle 1:Iinnesota economy in
2005: and
