There were a total of eight (8) bids received. The following table lists each of the bidders and their total bid: Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. R.L. Larson Excavating, Inc. Progressive Contracting, Inc. Northdale Construction, Inc. $339,590.00 $346,470.81 $368,257.60 $372,221.50 $381,477.67 $394,745.65 $431,092.00 $459,702.35 Arcon Construction, Inc. LaTour Construction, Inc. W.B. Miller, Inc. Kadlec Excavating, Inc. As you recall, the preliminary estimates for this work were approximately $400,000. The low bid from Dave Perkins Contracting is approximately 15 % below this amount. We have not previously worked with Dave Perkins Contracting, therefore we have checked references; we have received positive responses from the communities of Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, and Minnetonka where they have previously completed similar type projects. Based on these references and the low bid amount of $339,590.00, we would recommend award to Dave Perkins Contracting as the lowest responsible bidder. Attached is a draft resolution for the City Council's consideration that authorizes the award and execution of a contract with Dave Perkins Contracting. 211-310 l.may e Honorable Mayor and City Council May 31, 1994 Page 2 It should be noted that we need to acquire four easements from the property owners affected by this construction. We have previously received signed letters from each of the four property owners indicating their willingness to give the easement. Depending on the Contractor's schedule it may be necessary to have each property owner sign a waiver of trespass in the interim until the legal easement documents are ready for execution and filing. If you have any questions regarding this information, I will be in attendance at your meeting on June 6, 1994. Sincerely, MSA, CONSULTING ENGINEERS ~j#I~ Terry J.
