SUBJECT: LAKE ORONO BOAT DOCK
The existing dock at the Lake Orono boat launch is a forty foot plastic
covered float type dock that sustained some damage last winter. I have
patched the holes in the walking surface, but it appears to me that the public
would be much better served by a rigid roll-in type all aluminum dock of
similar length.
The Park and Recreation Commission recommended the purchase of an all
aluminum, roll-in type dock, 5 feet wide, if possible, at their special meeting
on June 27,1994.

The 5 foot width is not available without special order and at a substantially
higher cost. I have received quotes from four nearby dealers and the best
price I have received is $2,236 including sales tax. Park dedication funds are
available, but this purchase was not included in the 1994 park capital
improvements list.
