Introduction
Since the fInance director position was advertised last spring, an interview team has interviewed several
candidates for the position. Councilmember Farber assisted in the interviews along with various staff
members, including Bill Maertz and Lauren Wipper. This interview team has selected Mr. Timothy Simon
as the top candidate for the fInance director position.
Discussion
Mr. Simon has government f11lance experience including work at a city, the state auditor's offIce, and
several public accounting fIrms auditing cities and counties. He has a master's degree in business
administration and is working towards completing the CertifIed Public Finance OffIcer program through
the Government Finance OffIcers Association.
If approved, Mr. Simon will start on January 2, at Step A of the f11lance director pay range, which is
$82,600. He will move to Step B after nine months of employment based on satisfactory performance.
He will start with 12 days of banked sick leave and will start earning one additional day of sick leave per
month after one year of employment.
Mr. Simon will be at the Council meeting Monday to meet the Council and any staff members present.
He had an opportunity to meet all of the f11lance department staff members before accepting the
position.
