Boards / Commissions
Introduction
Each Councilmember serves as an ex-officio non-voting member and liaison benveen dle City Council
and four ad"visory boards and commissions (Heritage PresenTation Commission, Library Board, Parks and
Recreation Commission, and Planning Commission). The current Council liaison terms expired
December 31, 2006.
Discussion
The original Council Liaison appointments ,vere made in .Li\ugust 2004 and revisited in J anualyT 2005 due
to \racancies created by Councilmembers I<.uester and T,reite. The Board and Commission ~L\ppointment
Policy states tllat "the J\lqyor shall appoint one COltJ1cill\leJJJber as an e~"'<-officio JJJelJJber lvi/holit voting rights to each oj~
the following COJJJ/Jlissions: Plallning COJJ1JJJission, Parks and Recreation COJJJJJlission, Heritage Preservation COJJJ1Jiission,
and the Library Board. The Cotlllcill\leJJlber shall serve as liaisoJ1 between the Cot/licil and the COIJilJlission for a
detert/lined length of tillie established at the tiJlie of appointlJlent. "

IVIayor and Council are asked to appoint one Councilmember as an ex-officio member '\vidlout voting
rigllts to eacll of the follo\ving commissions: Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Cormnission,
Heritage PresenTation Commission, and tlle Library Board. The length of term is to be established by tlle
1:vlayor and Council at the time of appointment.
