Request Authorization to Apply for a MN DNR Local Trail
Connections Grant
Introduction
The City of Elk River has obtained the use of Babcock Park as a City Park. With the downtown
revitalization bringing in residents, staff would like to apply for a MN DNR Local Trail Connections
Grant for a downtown trail to Babcock Park. This trail would be used by both residents and downtown
workers either for exercise or leisure walks.
Discussion
The estimated cost of project is approximately $300,000. The MN DNR Local Trail Connections Grant
requires projects to be completed by June 30, 2009 and will cover 50% of cost.
Financial Impact
The City's obligation would be $150,000 and would come from the Park Dedication Fund and/or other
community services groups in the area.
